    The Kiribati Independence Order 1979 of the United Kingdom made provision for the Constitution of Kiribati to come into effect on 12 July 1979. Replaces the Constitution set out in Schedule 2 to the Gilbert Islands Order 1975 of the United Kimgdom (S.I. 1975, Part III, p. 8487), as amended.
