Second Region

Establishes the Solomon Islands Maritime Safety Administration Authority, sets out its powers and functions, which include the application and administration of the Shipping Act 1998, and provides for the management of maritime infrastructures and implementation of maritime conventions and agreements. Repeals the following:
- the Shipping Act (Cap. 163) (No. 16 of 1966) upon notice by the Minister in the Gazette;
- the Merchant Shipping (Fees) Act, 1913;
- the Light Dues and Harbours Act, 1923; and
- the Seamen Discipline (Admiralty Transport) Act, 1918

The following Regulations remain in force following the repeal of the Shipping Act:
- the Shipping Regulations;
- the Shipping (Dangerous Goods) Regulations;
- the Shipping (Notifications) Regulations, 1997 (LN 73/97); and
- the Maritime Security Regulations 2004 (LN 145/06).
