Second Region

Made under the Minimum Wages and Conditions of Employment Act, 1992. Applies to employees specified in the Schedule, which also sets out the minimum wages rate and conditions of employment. The minimum wages excluding any amount paid in lieu of rations is as follows:
Category I - 1,400.00 Kwacha per hour or 268,800 per month
Category II - 450,000 Kwacha per month for an employee engages as a driver
Category III - 500,000 Kwacha per month for an employee engaged as a typist, receptionist or telephonist
Category IV - 715,000 Kwacha per month for an employee engaged as a qualified clerk.
Also sets out hours of work, overtime, annual leave, paid sick leave, maternity leave, retirement benefits, medical discharge, redundancy benefits, repatriation benefits and termination.
