Several Articles of the Child Act No. 12/1996, the Penalty Code No. 58/1937, and the Code on Civil Affairs No. 143/1994. are either amended, replaced, or cancelled in this Law. The age of a child is defined to be under the age of 18 years. It guarantees the different rights of a child, including their right to live, survive, grow in a loving family, to be protected from different violent acts and physical and emotional abuse, as well as the right of equal treatment regardless of the parents' origins, and the child's right to have their own opinions. Also discusses the different stages of education the child is entitled to, and the responsibility of the parents or the care-giver has in making sure a child is receiving the proper education. The Law regulates and sets the rules and conditions for enabling the employment of children. Provides for the Government's responsibility for caring for disabled children.
