Abstract/Citation: Establishes a code of good practice for dismissals based on operational requirements. Places procedural and substantive obligations on employers. Requires affected parties to conduct consultation proceedings in order to attempt to reach consensus on appropriate measures to avoid dismissals. Provides for the disclosure by the employer of information on matters relevant to the consultation. Sets criteria for the consultation process. Confirms employees' entitlement to severance pay. Establishes that employees dismissed for operational reasons should be given preference if the employer wishes to hire employees with comparable qualifications again.
