Provides for the establishment and management of the South Australia Police. Repeals the Police Act 1952. Makes consequential amendments to the Interprestation Act 1915 and the Police Superannuation Act 1990 and for related purposes. Part One provides preliminary information. Part Two establishes the general composition and purpose of the police. Part Three provides for the responsibilities, appointment and terms of the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner and Assistanct Commissioners. Part Four regulates other members of the police. Establishes officers and ranks. Makes explicit performance standards. Establishes the duties of community police officers. Part Five sets the appointment procedures and responsibilities of police cadets and police medical officers. Part Six governs misconduct and discipline. Establishes codes of conduct and sets punishment procedures for contravention of codes of conduct. Also provides for suspensions, minor misconduct and informal inquiries. Part Eight governs termination of employment and transfers. Part Nine provides for the review of certain termination of employment, transfer and promotion decisions. Part Nine governs special constables. Part Ten makes miscellaneous decisions.
