Abstract/Citation
The purpose of these Regulations is to properly arrange for jobs or settle the lives of those who are laid off because of redundancy, while promoting enterprises' economic efficiency (Art. 1). With help by government and society, enterprises are required to arrange for jobs for surplus workers so as to guarantee a basic standard of living (Art. 2). Preferential treatment will be granted to those enterprises which are set up to recruit surplus workers (Art. 4 and Art. 5). Enterprises are authorised, under certain conditions, to let their staff have extra vacations during which only living expenses will be paid (Art. 8). Those who are five years younger than retirement age are allowed to stay at home and their living expenses will be paid until they are eligible for retirement benefit (Art. 9). These Regulations also provide for compensation for workers' resignation and contract termination because of redundancy.
