Second Region

The Law revises the legal framework governing the prevention and combating of the sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of children and child pornography, and it is promulgated for the purposes of harmonizing national legislation with the following instruments:

- Council Framework Decision 2001/220/JHA of 15 March 2001, on the standing of victims in criminal proceedings;
- European Parliament and Council Directive 2011/92/EU of 13 December 2011, on combating the sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of children and child pornography, and replacing Council Framework Decision 2004/68/JHA;

as well as for the purposes of optimal implementation of the following Acts:

- Law N° 6(III) of 2006 ratifying the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography;
- Law N° 11(III) of 2003 ratifying the United Nations Convention against transnational organized crime and the Protocols thereto;
- Laws N° 22(III) of 2004, 12(III) of 2010 and 14(III) of 2013 on the Convention on Cybercrime;
- Laws N° 243 of 1990, 5(III) of 2000 and 9(III) of 2010 on the Convention on the Rights of the Child;
- Law N° 23(III) of 2005 ratifying the European Convention on the Exercise of Children's Rights;
- Law ratifying the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse, adopted in Lanzarote on 25 October 2007.

The Law repeals the Laws N° 87(I) of 2007 and 13(I) of 2012 on the Legal Framework regulating the Special Protection of Persons who are Victims of Trafficking and Exploitation.
