    The event will bring together selected governments, social partners, academics, and practitioners from the Arab States and around the world, to discuss and share expertise on heat stress research, and design of mitigation strategies, policies, and legislation.

  1. What role can international labour standards and the ILO play in the protection of migrant workers’ wages?

    The ILO Committee of Experts on the Application of Conventions and Recommendations (CEACR) has identified non-payment of wages, delayed payment of as key modern-day wage protection issues that can also lead to debt bondage and forced labour, with migrant workers being especially vulnerable. This event presents a new ILO guidance note on the protection of wages for migrant workers.

    An event was organised at the historical site of Beit Alhikmah in Baghdad, bringing together a wide spectrum of partners who are working closely with the Government of Iraq to reform social protection.

  1. Awareness raising on Labour Migration for local community leaders in rural Kenya

    24 March - 9 April 2023

    The two labour migration awareness raising meetings in Kilifi and Busia brought together local community leaders from across Kilifi County and Busia County including the chiefs, assistant chiefs, village elders, community policing and community administrators.

  2. Trainers in Iraq complete process to become certified trainers in ILO's Start and Improve Your Business

    14 - 18 March 2023

    Implemented under PROSPECTS, the trainings will allow trainers to provide young entrepreneurs with the needed capacity building support to start or expand their businesses

  3. Training on identifying cases of forced labour of migrant workers in Kuwait supports government officials and company representatives to address an important challenge

    13 - 16 March 2023

    Between 13-15 March 2023, the ILO organized a three-day training on forced labour and trafficking in persons for staff of the labour inspectorate, the labour relations department, the domestic workers department, the shelter (for victims of labour exploitation), and the international relations department of the Public Authority for Manpower. A separate workshop was held for companies, focussing on how tools available to help strengthen business’ ability to combat forced labour and trafficking in persons.

  5. Academy on the Management of Vocational Training Centres in Iraq

    12 - 16 March 2023

    The five-day training was delivered by the International Training Centre of the ILO. It is part of a broader collaboration between the ILO and WFP, to strengthen the systems and capacities of selected Vocational Training Centres so they can better deliver market-relevant skills trainings and address skills mismatch.

    FAIRWAY in Kenya in support to the State Department for Labour and the National Employment Authority held a series of labour migration training sessions for Labour and Employment Officers from March to June 2023. Covering major regions in Kenya, the programme trained 236 officers
