Child Labour

Jordan releases two studies on child labour in the urban informal and agricultural sectors

The ILO will launch two in-depth studies on child labour in Jordan’s agricultural and urban informal sectors.

The ILO will launch two in-depth studies on child labour in Jordan’s agricultural and urban informal sectors during a workshop with government officials, United Nations agencies and international organizations, as well as representatives from workers’ and employers’ organisations.

Based on literature reviews, quantitative surveys and interviews, both studies examine the dynamics and characteristics of child labourers in the country with a differentiation between Jordanian and Syrian children. The studies also outline possible interventions required to address the issue of child labour in both sectors as well as in Jordan generally.

The studies are part of the ‘’ILO Response to the Syrian Refugee Crisis in Jordan’’, a development-focused strategy which aims to support Syrian refugees and host communities.
