The ILO publishes a wide range of books, reports, working papers, training manuals, CD-ROMs, videos and flash movies, relevant to China and Mongolia. Some of these can be downloaded directly. Others can be requested from the ILO Library in Beijing.

  5. HIV and AIDS related employment discrimination in China

    This report reviews the current state of HIV and AIDS workplace discrimination in China and summarizes a broad body of existing research as well as reviews new research conducted by the ILO and Maries Stopes International. The findings point to a trend of increasing discrimination against workers that contradicts both national policies and international standards. This body of work highlights numerous cases of employment discrimination in several key practices and puts forward a set of recommendations aimed at improving the situation.

  1. Guide on prevention of sexual harassment in the workplace

    This is a guide intended for trade union leaders, HR directors and ordinary workers in China, informing them of how to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace. It answers a series of questions, including what it is sexual harassment in the workplace, how enterprises put in place a prevention mechanism, what roles trade unions should play and how the victims can deal with it. Hopefully, readers may have better answers to the questions.

  2. List of occupational diseases (revised 2010). Identification and recognition of occupational diseases: Criteria for incorporating diseases in the ILO list of occupational diseases

    The number of physical, chemical, biological and psychosocial factors affecting workers’ health is constantly on the rise. The ILO has been responding to the challenge of creating safe and healthy working conditions since its founding in 1919. Agreed by governments as well as employers’ and workers’ organizations, this new list, approved in March 2010, reflects the state of the art in the identification and recognition of occupational diseases. The list, annexed here to the List of Occupational Diseases Recommendation, 2002 (No. 194), is designed to assist countries in their prevention, recording, notification and, if applicable, compensation of diseases caused by work.

  3. Summer field research for the employment of people with disability

    Three groups of undergraduate students in the Law School of Peking University China went to Beijing Municipality, Sichuan province and Heilongjiang provinces and carried out a survey on issues related to discrimination of people with disabilities in employment during their summer holidays in 2010. Cases were collected, interviews were organized with employers, human resource persons and law firms etc. to investigate the background of these areas where employment of people with disability has been effectively facilitated, aiming at exploring the possibility of further improvement through academic research or legal measures.

  4. Emergency-Start and Improve Your Business training includes people with disabilities

    Stories of two disabled persons who were included in a vocational / livelihoods training provided by the Emergency-Start and Improve Your Business (E-SIYB), a training initiative started to help economic recovery following the deadly May 12, 2008 Sichuan earthquake that killed more than 80,000 people.

    In this report, good practices were identified and documented from what had been developed within the framework of the project “Support for the Proposed Sub-Programme to Eliminate the Worst Forms of Child Labour: Time Bound Measures”, implemented from October 2005 to May 2010 by the ILO’s International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC) in Mongolia.

  11. Study on low carbon development and green employment in China

    This study was completed by the research team from the Institute for Urban and Environmental Studies (IUE), Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of low carbon development on employment in China and to make policy recommendations for the promotion of the dual objectives of employment creation and low carbon development.
