Migrants celebrate International Migrants Day in Myanmar

As GMS TRIANGLE project began activities in Myanmar at the beginning of 2014, this year marks the first International Migrants Day celebrated by the project in the country. The project will support decentralised activities across key districts in Myanmar.

To coincide with Shan New Year celebrations on 14 December in Kyaing Tung, a festival featuring information booths, games and performances related to migration will be held for potential and returned migrant workers and members of their families. In Dawei, local community-based organizations will host a small local event with returned and potential migrants, while on 21 December in Yangon a Safe Migration Fair involving a broad range of stakeholders will host information booths, games and activities, including keynote presentations to launch migration tools.
