    ASEAN countries have rebounded remarkably from the global economic crisis and many are recording pre-crisis economic growth levels but they face key challenges, including rebalancing growth, improving workforce skills, rebuilding employment and – critically – accelerating productivity to compete with India and China, according to a new ILO report.

    New ILO report assesses Labour and Social Trends, Crisis recovery, Future Challenges for Asean Economies

    A new report on labour and social trends in the 10 member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will be released by the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific on Friday 21st May. The report has been prepared for participants attending the 2nd ASEAN Human Resource Conference, being held in Hanoi on Tuesday 25th May.

    New ILO global report on child labour as effort to end child labour slow, ILO calls for “re-energized” global action

    (ILO Geneva & Bangkok) Amid growing concerns over the impact of the economic downturn, the ILO warned in a new study that efforts to eliminate the worst forms of child labour are slowing down and called for a “re-energized” global campaign to end the practice.

    (ILO BANGKOK) – The ILO is to launch a new report on the state of child labour around the world. The report is being launched on the eve of a major global meeting in The Hague, aimed at intensifying efforts to eliminate the worst forms of child labour within the next decade. The new ILO Global Report on Child Labour, entitled “Accelerating action against child labour” will be launched worldwide, under embargo, on 7 May.
