The second master plan on occupational safety, health and working environment (A.D. 2007-2011) A.D. 2009 revision

The Thailand Second Master Plan (A.D.2007-2011) (A.D.2009 Revision) indicates the directions and approaches from the present to 2011. It aims to play a role in the promotion of “good safety and health for workers and business competitiveness at the international level”.

The Second Master Plan on Occupational Safety, Health and Working Environment (A.D.2007-2011) (A.D.2009 Revision) was systematically developed (a) based on experiences from the First Master Plan
(A.D.2002-2006), (b) in accordance with government policy aimed at protecting workers under the Thailabour standards which focus on workplace safety and labour welfare and on extensive protection of workers in the informal sector in accordance with the goals of the tenth National Economic and Social Development Plan to “enhance living with safety”, and (c) in accordance with the Labour Master Plan statement that everyone is employed and works safely in order to meet the goal of “sustainable and systematic workplace safety management by the corporations of every sector to promote worker’s good quality of life.”

The Second Master Plan (A.D.2007-2011) was prepared with the cooperation of government and the private sector and was ratified at a public hearing. According to section 100 of the Labour
Protection Act (A.D.1998), it was approved in principle by the occupational safety, health and working
environment committee, a national tripartite committee. In addition, the cabinet unanimously endorsed the second Master plan on April 18, 2007.

The Second Master Plan (A.D.2007-2011) (A.D.2009 Revision) indicates the directions and approaches from the present to 2011. It aims to play a role in the promotion of “good safety and health for workers and business competitiveness at the international level”. The plan comprises:

● Occupational Safety, Health and Working Environment Status (A.D.2007-2011);
● Significant policies on safety at work; and
● The Second Master Plan on Occupational Safety, Health and Working Environment (A.D.2007-2011) (A.D.2009 Revision).
