    A new report by the International Labour Organization (ILO) states that the global number of child labourers has declined by one third since 2000, from 246 million to 168 million. But Sub-Saharan Africa continues to be the region with the highest incidence of child labour with more than one in five children in child labour.

  5. Tackling Child Labour through Education in Kenya

    The Federation of Kenyan Employers (FKE) - in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the European Union (EU) – implemented a programme on “Tackling Child Labour through Education” where adopting a school was one of the key innovative strategies. The “Adopt a school” process is to involve the private sector in supporting Educational Programmes to improve access, equity and transition rate.

    The ILO-Sida HIV&AIDS vulnerability Reduction and Economic Empowerment project will launch a Corridor Economic Empowerment Innovation Fund (CEEIF) on Wednesday 18th September 2013, a facility meant to address the needs of vulnerable groups of women, young girls and boys operating in the informal sector in the selected communities. The event to be officiated by the Minister for Labour and Employment, Hon. Gaudensia Kabaka at the ILO Offices in Dar es Salaam, is intended to popularize the economic empowerment strategies
