The purpose of this manual is to provide technical staff ranging from site supervisors to engineers with a technical reference which details commonly used work methods and best practices for constructing rural roads. It describes all phases of works management from the initial stages of identification and design, through technical planning, work organization, works implementation procedures, site administration, to reporting and control.

Led by the gender theme group with two facilitators from the International Labour Organization’s Office of Gender Equality in Geneva, Switzerland, a hands on capacity building for gender audit facilitators training was held in Jos during the 5-10the October, 2008. Co-organized by ILO and UNIFEM Nigeria offices, other participatory agencies, government, and CSOs included the following: UNFPA, UNESCO, UNICEF, WHO, FAO, UNDP, UNIFEM Liberia, UNHCR Liberia, Ministry of Women Affairs, Ministry of Health, National Planning Commission, Ministry of Labour, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), ECOWAS, National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Gender and Constitutional Reform of Nigeria (GECORN) and the UNRC.

Independent Evaluation of the ILO's Country Programme for Zambia: 2001-2007

This report highlights the main findings, conclusions and recommendations based on an independent evaluation of ILO’s support for Zambia from 2001 to 2007. It includes an assessment of approaches taken, progress being made against country-level strategies and outcomes, and lessons learned to inform future strategy development of the Zambia Decent Work Country Programme (DWCP): 2007-2010. The evaluation also focuses on ILO’s positioning vis-à-vis constituents, UN partner agencies and the broader national development context, and includes recommendations to strengthen the ILO’s contribution to Zambia.
