Towards More Job-Rich Growth: The Case of Tunisia

This policy note is part of a series of three policy notes on Tunisia, Morocco and Egypt that the ADWA’ Project and the Economic Research Forum (ERF) have jointly developed building on the findings of the 2nd Report on Jobs and Growth with a view to providing policymakers and social partners with action-oriented recommendations to be implemented at country level in line with respective specificities, needs and challenges.

The policy note examines how the several internal and external shocks have worsened the socio-economic situation in Tunisia in both the context and in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. It also provides an overview of the Tunisian labour market and stresses that timely and adequate reforms for sustained economic growth and better-quality job creation in Tunisia require social and political stability and a sustainable trust between the different stakeholders in society.
